Stabroek Winters - Music and language: We

The music house presents: Wij 2025-2026 Lennaert Maes and Andries Boone have been making performances for 15 years for those learning Dutch. In the performance 'WIJ 2025-2026' they collaborate with 3 top musicians: Zouratié Koné from Burkina Faso, Nathalie Ballestas from Colombia and Jamal Moussaid from Morocco. These newcomers were already professionally active as musicians in their native countries and bring their musical influences to the stage of Wij! Local songs receive an exotic interpretation and songs from their homelands get a Dutch-language version. Thus We make music together, with Dutch as the working language, but with music from all over the world. Wij 2025-2026 is a powerful musical story by Flemings and non-native speakers who learned Dutch, made for those learning Dutch, but equally engaging for the Flemish theatergoer.
