There you sit, with your test result. It turns out you belong to the smartest two percent of the population. And have done absolutely nothing with it all these years. 'Blessed with a good set of brains', they call that. But isn't it actually cursed? Because what use are brains if you can only use them to look back on all your stupid actions?
In his latest comedy show, Bas Birker dives into the wonderful world inside his skull. Because you may have been able to rely on your ratio for more than 40 years because you never learned anything else: when your feelings suddenly run away with you, you encounter yourself so often and so hard that you could start a comedy duo with yourself.
And so Bas tells how a smart boy did stupid things. And why you are blessed with a simple view of the world and cursed if you think you know everything. Whether you belong to the great majority, or to that two percent.
Bas has been one of the regular columnists for ‘Het Middagjournaal’ by Nieuwe Feiten on Radio 1 for years. He is currently touring with a selection from these columns in a lecture titled ‘Liefste Landgenoten’. He is also one of the regular table guests in ‘De Tafel van Gert’ (GoPlay). ‘Two Percent’ is his sixth theater show.
The press on ‘Two Percent’:
"Bas Birker laughs at stupid people, but his self-analysis adds an extra layer." (Karel Michiels, De Standaard ★★★★)
"Birker does not make fast but slow-cooked and slow-ripening comedy. Comedy that you can consume word for word, movement for movement, look for look, pointing finger for pointing finger, laugh after laugh.” (Els Van Steenberghe, Focus Knack ★★★★)
“Birker continues to scatter jokes generously.” (De Standaard ★★★★)
