The Ommegang, a journey back in time

This walk allows you to understand the Ommegang, this major folkloric cultural event in Brussels and shimmering reconstruction of one of the great moments of its history: the Ommegang of 1549 in honor of Charles Quint. A fine storyteller, your guide will explain the historical foundations of this procession. Its link with the district, the importance of the shooting of the Golden Arrow of the crossbowmen, the relationship with the Cour de Charles Quint who comes to the church to fetch the statue of Our Dame du Sablon... Then, he will comment on the parade, its multiple groups, characters, and dignitaries as well as the 1,400 extras that we will accompany in their descent towards the Grand-Place.
