Auke de Boer (Drachten, 1954) is a versatile musician: carillonneur, organist, conductor, and teacher. Liudger in Drachten and at music school De Wâldsang in Buitenpost.
Nowadays he is the city carillonneur of Dokkum and organist of the Grote- or Martinuskerk there. In addition, he provides church music courses for the Protestantse Kerk in Friesland. Upon his retirement as carillonneur of the Martinitoren and the Academietoren in Groningen, he was honored with the Medal of Honor of the city of Groningen and that of the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen.
De Boer has also given concerts on an international level in, among others, the US, Canada, Japan (Huis ten Bosch), Nagasaki, and Lithuania. His arrangements for automatic carillons in Japan are still in use. Recordings of his playing can be heard on, among others, the CDs Hora Finita, Fryslân’s Sjongende Tuorren and d’Olle Grieze.
