Stories hidden in building blocks, statues, stained glass windows... We highlight art styles from Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Classicism, and Neo-styles to idiosyncratic modern art forms. Tombstones show knights in full battle gear, ostentatious family coats of arms, and honorary titles. We reflect on the broad history of the village and district. Amazing stories behind statues of saints, sometimes with bizarre, gruesome attributes, are also not missing. The churches are at a turning point. Now that religious attendance is waning, treasures of heritage and treasures of stories from our past often remain hidden behind locks and alarms. Saint-Vedastuskerk Hoepertingen Step inside the Saint-Vedastuskerk van Hoepertingen and travel through almost a thousand years of history. Admire the medieval tower, the Gothic choir, and the elegant neoclassical church that was rebuilt in the 18th century. Inside, you will discover impressive works of art: from the 16th-century baptismal font and Gothic tombstones to the altars, including a special painting – possibly from the studio of Jacob Jordaens.
