On board the majestic three-master Mercator, Shantykoor Het Veerse Scheepstuig lets the sea sing. 42 singers, five musicians and a fiery conductor bring the story of the great sailing ships to life together. The four-part shanties, sung in seven languages, sound as they once sounded on the world's oceans: raw, rhythmic, compelling. Van Sailing to Santiano, from Wem Kan Segla to The Wellerman and of course De Klok van Arnemuiden. Music that smells of rope, tar and adventure. We take our audience along in medleys that invite you to sing along, sway along and become a sailor yourself for a while. It is not for nothing that we received the Gouden Zuidwester as the best shanty choir in the Netherlands and performed in Belgium, Germany, France and Spain.
