The Maiden's Island

1542. Marguerite de la Rocque is married off to her uncle, leader of an expedition to Nieuwe Wereld. On board, she meets Thomas d’Artois, a crew member who abuses her. When it comes to light that Marguerite is pregnant, she, Thomas, and her maid are left behind on a deserted island in the middle of the ocean. Cut off from the outside world, they must try to survive in a ruthless nature, while despair and madness slowly threaten to take over. Commentary A strong historical drama centered on a brutal struggle for survival that manifests itself both physically and psychologically. Although the desolate wilderness is seen as the biggest obstacle at first glance, it is human nature that must ultimately be feared (and fought) the most. With a strong lead role for 'our' Salomé Dewaels ( Nino ), emerging Brussels talent, who nicely turns all '' damsel in distress '' stereotypes around and even completely breaks their necks.
