KH Vooruit, Florestan Bataillie and Jan Dewilde - The story of Benoit

A dynamic, almost podcast-like formula, in which music and storytelling alternate. Herontdek Harelbekes famous fellow townsman via a swirling musical podcast, where Florestan Bataillie enters into dialogue with musicologist and Benoitkenner Jan Dewilde (Study Center for Flemish Music). Together they cycle through the life of Peter Benoit on the basis of striking stories and anecdotes. From his youth in Harelbeke over his studies in Brussels, the Prix de Rome and his Parisian period to his international contacts and his role in the development of the Vlaams Conservatorium. The stories are interspersed with works performed by Koninklijk Harmonieorkest Vooruit. The program includes works by Peter Benoit himself, supplemented with music by composers such as Wagner, Gevaert, Offenbach, Grieg, and Liszt. This allows the audience to get to know Benoit in his time, network, and artistic context.
