Nemø ensemble & Pak Yan Lau, Elena Rykova & Joel Cahen - Pool of Sound
Sat, 3 Oct 2026 · 19:00
Zwembad Jan Guilini, Bruges
€28–31
Put on your swimsuit and float along with underwater sounds in the most beautiful swimming pool in Bruges!
Nemø ensemble immerses you in a sound bath. And you can take that 'sound bath' literally for once. From the ticket counter through the changing stalls - where you put on your swimsuit - to and around the swimming pool, composer Elena Rykova immerses you in the many dimensions of sound above and below water in her characteristic fairytales. In the utopian underwater music of Pak Yan Lau, sounds dissolve into a dreamy, fluid subconscious, in which nothing is absurd anymore. At the same time, Joel Cahen abruptly brings us back to earth. His penetrating soundscape confronts the listener with human noise pollution in the oceans: a stifled cry for quieter seas.
PRACTICAL
There is a short introduction in English, the concert itself is wordless
Duration: 1:30 (excluding introduction), of which 40 minutes in the water
There is a possibility to change on-site: Bring your swimwear, as well as a towel and possibly a bathrobe
Goggles and a snorkel are an added value to fully experience the music underwater
The longer you can stay underwater, the more varied the performance becomes!
Pro tip: if you float like a starfish, you can also keep your ears underwater and experience the sounds.
