We leave in Turnhout by bus towards Antwerp. In the morning we bring a visit with a guide to Fort Liezele, the best-preserved armored fort of Vesting Antwerpen.
It is an appointment with history.
We return in time, discover the importance of Antwerp on the eve of WWI. We relive the siege, the experiences of the garrison, and the consequences for the population.
Admire the unique museum collection while you wander through the mystical corridors of this pristine fort.
Interactive displays, virtual reality, game consoles, and audiovisual montages cast a clear light on a forgotten episode from WWI. Enjoy this unique experience for young and old.
We will have lunch in Bar Proef on the Vlasmarkt in Dendermonde. You get soup and otherwise have the choice of
Tongue rolls in white wine sauce with fine vegetables and baby potatoes // chicken in Orval sauce with croquettes and chicory salad // Vegetarian: vegetarian cannelloni filled with ricotta and spinach with a sauce of cherry tomato and basil.
After lunch, we let ourselves be surprised by the rich history and cultural treasures of Dendermonde. We walk with guides through the historic city center with the imposing City Hall and Belfry, the Sint-Alexiusbegijnhof, and the beautiful Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk.
We leave by bus strictly at 8:20 am at parking Stadspark in Turnhout (intersection Graatakker – Papenbruggestraat). Please be present at your boarding point at least 10 minutes earlier.
Arrival home in Turnhout is scheduled around 7:00 pm.
