Botanical walk with guide in Hof ter Saksen in Haasdonk (BKZ).

June 24 canceled new date The domain Hof ter Saksen is one of the scarce enclosed park forests in the Land van Waas, with a protected landscape park and magnificent walking lanes. Besides the park (13.5 ha) with the beautiful 18th-century castle, orangery and farm building (protected monuments), you will also find a nature garden (1.3 ha), a standard orchard (3 ha), the Beverse brook valley with buffer basin and the newly planted oak forest (3 ha), a birth forest for the children from Beveren born in 2008. In the arboretum, you will find no fewer than 4,500 plant species. This walk, which starts at the orangery, leads you along a number of interesting plants (the spicebush, wheel tree, magnolias, ornamental cherry trees, onion soup tree, etc.) from the collection. We walk along the oldest beech in the park to the heart of the arboretum where the Japanese cork tree with its wide crown towers above the shrubs. The walk takes about 2 hours. Good walking shoes are recommended. The garden cafeteria is open from 2 PM to 6 PM. Departure: at 12:35 PM at the bus stop Dorp Zwijndrecht (bus no. 82 - get off at stop Hof ter Saksen).
