Gelsomina

Gelsomina, a woman-child, is sold by her mother to Zampano, a fairground strongman who mistreats her. They travel in Italy leading the difficult life of showmen. Gradually, Gelsomina develops a bond with Zampano and on the road, meets another street performer, “Le Fou”. This meeting will upset Gelsomina and will have fatal consequences on their lives. This adaptation directed by Pierrette Dupoyet met with the enthusiasm and advice of Federico Fellini and Giulietta Masina. The instinctive poetry, the simple and precise approach reflects the emotional intelligence of Gelsomina. It takes us by the throat and plunges us entirely into the story.
