Medieval sounds in the Sint Lambertuskerk

Old repertoires and improvisations performed by Iris Eysermans on three late-medieval keyboard instruments. Today they have become rare, and it is exceptional to hear them played live — let alone in the setting of a monumental church. The organist of this church brings two mini-concerts on her three late-medieval keyboard instruments: the portative, the clavicimbalum, and the clavicytherium. These instruments are in themselves living heritage. None of these keyboards comes from a factory: they were built by hand by specialized instrument makers, based on historical images, any construction plans, and scarce preserved examples that still exist. Today they have become rare, and it is exceptional to hear them played live — let alone in the setting of a monumental church. Thus, the Open Monumentendag in Kessel connects not only the building but also the musical instruments with the rich history of the region.
