A motley crew finds itself cut off from the world, back to nature. The five campers, armed with anti-insect spray to tame nature, soon lose their grip on reality. Illusions get the better of sober reason, and the turbulent nature shows its limitlessness. A megalomaniacal monster approaches them. The camping trip degenerates into a splashing bloodbath. Leirens & Storms draw on their love for grotesque kitsch and the unbelievable (yet poignant) acting style from horror films for their new production. Marshmallow BBQ is a hallucinatory comic drama in horrifying English that asks what makes danger so attractive. Who and what are our monsters? And can you sympathize with this? How can staged fear divide, but also connect and unite? Unknown, indescribable, paralyzing terror! Nothing is more horrifying than the last 20 minutes of 'Marshmallow BBQ'! About the makers Leirens & Storms investigate the absurd in both the comic and the dark. Marshmallow BBQ is their fifth collaboration. Together they previously made Krocht, Another One, Happy Hour, and Folks & Fools. For the first time in their collaboration, they invite three extra players: Marjan De Schutter, Maliqa Fye, and Emma Browaeys. The lighting design by Geert Vanoorlé takes the form of an extra player. Storms and Leirens have clearly devoured a multitude of B-horror films and diligently took notes during their watch party, with this grotesque parody as a result.
