Sara Salvérius quartet & support act: STANN

Fri, 26 Mar 2027 · 20:15
Schouwburg Noord, Antwerp
In 2025, Sara Salvérius’s grandfather announced the day and hour of his death. He had requested euthanasia and therefore knew exactly when he would breathe his last. The foreshadowing of the imminent farewell was for Sara not only the beginning of a personal grieving process, but also the start of a search for the cadence that gives rhythm to every life: the breath. Driven by the ambition to write for a larger ensemble again, she brings together four wind players of diverse backgrounds: saxophonist Bertel Schollaert, clarinetist Jean-Philippe Poncin, trombonist Frederik Heirman, and trumpeter Sam Vloemans. Together they explore the wind that rushes through their instruments; sometimes on the melancholy tone of a whispered last word, sometimes with the exuberant character of a brass band. Between composition and improvisation, they celebrate life, farewell, and death. Because everything is breath. support act: STANN STANN is the solo project of Stan Nieuwenhuis (mastercab, doux). The result of the many nightly hours in his home studio is a mix of cornet and electronics that meet in introverted tracks, improvisations, and soundscapes. This fusion of brass band and jazz with a warm sound takes you on a journey where time stands still.
