Extraordinary Classical with Nicolas Callot & Griet De Geyter

Pianist Nicolas Callot (invites) concludes the series and brings soprano Griet De Geyter along. Together they provide an intimate and atmospheric finale, a final moment when time slows down for a while and summer lingers just a little longer. Goethe's poetry played a key role in the development of the German lied around 1800. In this program, his work sounds in settings by Carl Friedrich Zelter and Johann Friedrich Reichardt, composers who were close to Goethe's own views on singing and text, and by Franz Schubert, for whom the lied takes on a more personal and deepened form. The program combines songs with solo piano pieces and thus offers a versatile picture of Goethe's musical world. The pianoforte underlines the sound world in which this music was originally conceived and strengthens the intimate interaction between singing and piano.
