Tijdens Open Monumentendag on Sunday, September 13, 2026, it is possible to visit the recently installed organ in the Sint-Martinuskerk van Overpelt. Since April 2026, a large organ that was relocated from the Nederlandse Ridderkerk has been shining here. The Baroque organ that was built in 1959 by Willem van Leeuwen was given a place in Overpelt on a stage 1.5 meters high in the northern transept. This clever stage was manufactured by employees of the Gemeente Pelt. The monumental instrument has a height of 8 meters and a weight of 2 tons. In addition to a liturgical function, the Van Leeuwen organ can also be used for choir and organ concerts, organ/keyboard lessons, and performance moments of the Kunstacademie Noord-Limburg and the EMJ (Europees Muziekfestival for Youth). At 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM, you can listen to the organ briefly during an organ performance. Karolien Schuurmans and Bart Wuilmus perform 4-handed organ works by J.S. Bach. At 2:15 PM and 3:15 PM, you can then visit the organ under the guidance of the Christel Vandebriel and Bart Wuilmus. The employees are all teachers at the Kunstacademie Noord-Limburg. admission free Kerkdijk 2-4, 3900 Overpelt
