Donnie Darko - BL!NDMAN [sax]

BL!NDMAN [sax] plays their new soundtrack live for the cult film Donnie Darko. This dark sci-fi gem from 2001 grew almost entirely through word-of-mouth into one of the cult films of the early 2000s. Regisseur Richard Kelly’s debut had a little-remembered run in theaters. Released barely two months after 9/11 and with promotion that centered on a plane crash, the film seemed doomed to fail from the start. Despite this difficult beginning, Donnie Darko became a true underground hit on DVD and grew into a ‘must see’ for every film lover with a nose for eccentric cinema. ‘’I want to emphasize the different storylines with BL!NDMAN without falling into the clichés of a traditional ‘horror-movie’ accompaniment. The typical eighties songs (Duran Duran, Echo & the Bunnymen, Joy Division, …) are of course retained as such. It is an arsenal of instruments (Saxes, percussion, turntables, electronics …) that will give the sound of the film a physical presence.
