During this exclusive recital, the internationally acclaimed violinist Mikhail Bezverkhni takes the audience on an impressive journey through three of the most monumental works in violin literature. On the program are: Sonata No. 2 in A minor (BWV 1003) Chaconne from Partita No. 2 in D minor (BWV 1004) Partita No. 3 in E major (BWV 1006) These compositions belong to the absolute highlights of classical music. They demand not only phenomenal technical mastery, but also exceptional artistic depth. Bach makes a single violin sound like a full orchestra and creates a musical world full of emotion, spirituality, and virtuosity. De Sonate No. 2 combines lyrical beauty with an impressive architecture and culminates in a masterful fugue that pushes the boundaries of the solo violin. The absolute highlight of the afternoon is undoubtedly the legendary Chaconne from the second Partita. This masterpiece is globally considered one of the greatest compositions ever written for solo violin. Reservations and venue Onze Lieve Vrouw Ter Sneeuw church in Destelbergen starts 15 pm Sunday October 25 2026 BIO: MIKHAIL BEZVERKHNI As a violinist, he has had a major career, made many tours, and was a laureate and prize-winner of various international competitions. In 1976, he won the first prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition for violin, Grand Prix D'Elisabeth, in Brussels. This highly prestigious award marked the era in which he was free to travel outside the USSR. Although he made many concert tours and recordings within the USSR, from 1978 onwards he was prevented for a long time from traveling to and from the West. After the fall of the Berlijnse Muur in 1990, he settled permanently in Belgium. In addition to the many recordings he made for, among others, Melodya and Deutsche Grammophon, Michail Bezverchni has also earned his stripes as a conductor, actor, and as a composer of film music, among other things. Zijn Suite Gambrinus won the first prize for music at the international film festival of Valence (France) in 1992. As a painter, from 1976 to 1990 he completed a 14-year art education with Vladimir Rajkov, a student of Robert Falk. Long after settling in Belgium, he finally returned to painting in 2007. More than 30 of his works are now in private collections in Belgium, Germany, France, Portugal, Russia, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Monaco, Israel, Majorca, and Vatican City.
