Les Triadours play 'Retour Bxl-Paris - homage to Edith Piaf & Jacques Brel'

In ‘Retour Bxl-Paris’, the audience is taken on a musical journey through the repertoire of two chansonniers pur sang: Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel. Two icons who gave color to the French chanson are brought together in this unique theater concert. Edith Piaf, the lyrical street sparrow, saw the light of day according to legend on the sidewalk of the Rue de Belville in Paris, one of the poorest neighborhoods of Paris. The difference in origin could not be greater with the Belg Jacques Brel, born in a wealthy environment in Schaerbeek. Both grew into the most important voices of the French song. Their songs expose the French soul: romantic, a bit impulsive, and above all nostalgic. At fifteen, Edith Piaf made her debut as a street singer. She wrote a successful repertoire full of classic French chansons including her world-famous song La vie en rose. Many of her works were inspired by her lovers: Milord, Non, je ne regrette rien, Hymne à l’amour, A quoi ca sert l’amour… This grande dame of the French song knew a tragic thirst for love and music. Jacques Brel is born into the well-to-do bourgeoisie of Brussels. At school, it didn't work out, and neither did it in his father's cardboard factory. He leaves for Paris where his success story begins after some time. Brel confirms his talent as a chansonnier with La valse à mille temps and Ne me quitte pas. At the end of the 50s, Brel is a big star and performs in dozens of countries.
