FRIDAY JULY 24 – SOUNDSYSTEM NIGHT Friday revolves entirely around the essence of the Jamaican soundsystem culture: custom-built speakers, vinyl and dubplates – heavyweight basses, conscious lyrics, energetic toasters and above all a strong, inclusive community. At the campsite, Crucial Soundsystem is the alarm clock on duty. Together with their guests from Tenement Showcase, they bring the first vibes. Later, Banton Boom Bike spreads pop-up Jungle and R’nB parties across the festival grounds, where you can dance casually. The focus of the evening is in the Lion’s Den. The entire evening is hosted there by the legendary Blackboard Jungle Soundsystem (16 scoops), which brings Marky Lyrical from Canada and Sistah Jahia from Guadeloupe as vocalists. With NicoZen and Ital Power, they invite two extra crews that will turn the tent completely upside down: driving rhythms, immersive toasts and deep basslines bring the perfect soundsystem explosion for every lover of pure roots and dub. SATURDAY JULY 25 – ROOTS & REGGAE VIBES GALORE Saturday goes completely crescendo with a strong mix of live concerts and soundsystem sets. Op de Inner Lion stage will bring the Kortrijkse Earth-Tone Soundsystem, Unlisted Fanatic and Gladdy Wax (a pioneer in reggae and soundsystem culture for over 50 years) - between the live concerts - a few uncompromising sessions that will send the dance floor into orbit. In In de Lion’s Den, we get a line-up that is as solid as a rock. With an infectious mix of ska, rock, world music and chanson française, Skarbone14 has been conquering stages throughout Europe, Canada and even Burkina Faso for years. This year they are celebrating their 25th anniversary at Irie Vibes Roots Festival. With her warm, soulful voice and irresistible stage presence, Sara Lugo has become a fixture within the international reggae and soul scene. Afterwards, we present an exclusive performance by the Beljam Roots Collective. Expect an energetic live roots experience with Xanjah, Saimn-I and Collieman on vocals. They are bringing GT Moore as an extra guest. The headliner this year is Cimarons Meet Lone Ark, a special meeting between the legendary UK reggae heritage of the Cimarons and the contemporary roots productions of Roberto Sanchez – a set that manages to touch both lovers of classic reggae and new generations. We finish as it should be: with Hitman & Fiza Soundsystem. Hitman & Fiza is the meeting of two soundsystem and studio enthusiasts who, out of their love for vintage equipment, started building their own soundsystem, which results in their own unique sound.
