Art, a matter of gender?
For fifty years, questions around gender have been an important subject within scientific research and public debate. This autumn we study, using selected examples from our collections – from Lucas I Cranach to Evelyne Axell – how images and works of art can reinforce or question clichés and stereotypes. Themes such as the couple or the roles and symbolisms attributed to sexes are covered. A guided tour to look through the eyes of those who make art and those who look at it!
