The Extinction of Emotions

Théâtre Blocry, Louvain-la-Neuve
Documentary theater / Creation Alcohol as a way to turn off our emotions. May 2022. The actor Thibault Wathelet contacts his friend Alexandre Drouet to help him make video capsules on alcohol addiction. They then interview 15 people, some in the midst of a struggle against alcoholism, others abstinent for a longer or shorter time. Thibault asks the questions, Alexandre films. Everything is shot in a house in Ottignies: Patchwork, a service that accompanies and helps dependent people. A year later, following this overwhelming experience and still crossed and inhabited by these stories, Alexandre proposes to Thibault to make a show out of it that he will write and in which Thibault will play. But how to approach a subject as sensitive as our relationship with alcohol? Object theater then imposes itself. For its indispensable distance. For its universality, also. And, because it allows the playful delicacy of the shift. Recommended from 16 years old.
