Met Missy Sippy All Stars we are not only bringing a top band to our hall, but also a piece of living Belgian blues history.
From 2017 to 2019, in our series 'Ode to the Blues', we hosted just about all the better Belgian blues bands. We cherish fond memories of all those concerts, but one evening stands out in particular to us: the closing concert of the Missy Sippy All Stars on March 16, 2019, under the direction of the late 'Tiny Legs Tim' De Graeve. Anyone who was there knows it: this was no ordinary concert. It was one of those evenings where everything came together: the band, the music, the audience, and Tim's inspiration.
De Missy Sippy All Stars grew out of the legendary blues jams in the Ghent music café Missy Sippy, where musicians gathered every Wednesday evening for years under the inspiring guidance of Tiny Legs Tim. Following his passing in 2022, the All Stars decided to keep his legacy alive. The jams still take place every week - and with both familiar and new faces - the group continues to grow and flourish.
De Missy Sippy All Stars at Ootello, as true ambassadors of Belgian blues, bring an upbeat mix of blues, boogie-woogie, gospel, and rhythm-and-blues. Furthermore, it will be a joyful reunion with Matt T Mahony and Tom Eylenbosch, who each presented their first solo album at Ootello last year with a strong concert.
