Lido Pimienta is a Colombian-Canadian multidisciplinary artist, nominated for GRAMMY Awards, whose work mixes music, performance, and visual arts. Active since 2010, she develops a singular work at the crossroads of Afro-Indigenous Colombian traditions, cumbia, electropop, and a DIY punk aesthetic.
Revealed with La Papessa (Polaris Music Prize 2017), she then established herself with Miss Colombia, which explores Caribbean identity and its Wayuu heritage through a hybrid language between cumbia, pop, and chamber music. She continues her evolution with La Belleza, a composition project for ballet created with Andrea Miller, marking her entry into the field of contemporary classical music.
Her latest album, Caribenya, gathers these different dimensions in a work mixing electro-cumbia, dembow, and ambient textures, articulated around the themes of diaspora, community, and cultural resistance.
