Visit heritage Geuzenhoek

Sat, 25 Jul 2026 · 12:30
Protestants Museum 'de Geuzenhoek', Horebeke
On Saturday afternoon, July 25, 2026, we will visit the Geuzenhoek in Horebeke. We get an insight into this unique community there! The historic heart of this village is particularly pleasant to spend time in. You must walk into the church. History stares at you from every corner. Moreover, there is a tree of a monument next to it – literally. The 150-year-old, gigantic weeping beech on the church grounds is protected as a monument and is a feast for all the senses. Near the church building, you will find the Protestants Museum ‘de Geuzenhoek’. In 1989, this small museum opened as the Protestants Historisch Museum Abraham Hans. A small museum with a small collection, which is entirely focused on the rich history of the Protestant community in the village. The folk writer Abraham Hans, who at the time gave his name to this museum, is also extensively introduced to the public. We are guided by a guide through the heritage of the Geuzenhoek. We visit the ‘Oude Kerk’, the ‘Nieuwe Kerk’, the cemetery, and the museum. We will discover the impressive history of this Protestant enclave there. PRICE? € 17 (MOW members) – € 20 (non-members).
