Sounding Lines (Wading Version) - Stijn Demeulenaere

Wed, 5 Aug 2026 · 11:00
Strand Oosteroever, Ostend
€20
Sounding Lines listens to how we humans changed the North Sea floor, no less than 3 times in the last 200 years. First, we fished away all the oyster beds. Then we drilled for oil and gas. Now we are building hundreds of wind turbines, and an undersea electricity grid. Geopolitics, climate action, ecological fear, and economic hope come together in this story. Gradually, it becomes clear how connected we are to the sea, and how we have transformed it into a very human place. Stijn recorded the sound of offshore wind farms, and of some of the last wild oyster beds. Een Oostends choir sings forgotten sea shanties. At TAZ, all this comes together in an immersive performance. The audience puts on waders and goes into the water, listening to a world full of possible past and future. Attention: the audience must put on waders and then go into the water. ... Read more at https://theateraanzee.be/programma/sounding-lines-wading-version-2
