It is 1892. Senne is 11 years old and a factory child. He works, like many children, in one of the Turnhout printing houses. The work is hard and heavy, the days are long. The ink from the machines sticks indelibly to his clothes, hands, and skin. On what was supposed to be an ordinary workday, Senne unintentionally sets a series of events in motion, with major consequences… Turnhout experienced its heyday as an industrial city in the 19th century. With the city of today as a backdrop, 'Child with ink stains' takes you back to this eventful period. Step into this story about exploitation and injustice, but also about resistance, courage, and the will to change the course of history. Ten impressive murals bring Senne's world to life in an unprecedented street art route. You will walk the route with a guide during these monthly walk-in tours this summer vacation. Practical: - Start at 2 PM - 5 euros per person, free for children younger than Senne (11 years old). - The route is approximately 4.5 km long. It departs and ends at the Speelkaartenmuseum, Druivenstraat 18. - The roads are wheelchair and stroller friendly.
