A duet between juggler and light, a duel between man and machine.
Just the Moon is a surprising and physical circus and light spectacle in which juggling, acrobatics and light play come together. Raff Pringuet shares the stage with a modern, motorized theater lamp. A human and an object in search of who or what they can be together.
The artist throws, rolls and catches himself and a few juggling balls with fluid precision, while the lamp uses its extensive range of light, colors and movement to create a visual whole. Body, ball and light play a harmonious game of appearing and disappearing.
Then suddenly… a glitch? A technical error? Or is the lamp developing a will of its own? The peaceful duet degenerates into an exciting duel in which the lamp claims its place in the spotlight. A lamp that dances and juggles? Does that make the artist redundant? And can they still exist peacefully side by side?
Just the Moon is wordless circus theater with a subtle comedic note that carries young and old along into an imaginative world full of tension. At the same time, Just the Moon also touches on current themes such as technology, autonomy and the increasingly vague boundaries between human and machine.
An ideal introduction to circus theater. The relationship between classical and modern is palpable in all layers.
