Behind the scenes with the founders.
How did the beguines of the Diest beguinage live? In the beguine house, furnished by Heemkring Arnoldus IV, you step into the daily life of a beguine from the 19th century. In 2026, the house was given a refresh and was refurnished by the local history society.
For one of the founders, Guy Hommelen, this Open Monumentendag is also a special moment. After years of dedication to the beguine house and Diest heritage, he is passing on his volunteer work. So come and listen one more time to his knowledge, stories, and enthusiasm for this special place.
