The Central Station and its Royal Salon

At the entrance of Gare Centrale, Brussels

La Gare Centrale, which was meant to concretize the North-Midi junction, was designed by Victor Horta as early as 1912. Work would only begin in 1937, after the war and the stock market crash, and would be directed by Maxime Brunfaut, who took over from V. Horta in 1947. Inaugurated in 1952, this exceptional and complex station due to its triangular shape and the slope of the terrain is intended to welcome official visits and numerous commuters. At the end of the visit, you will have the chance to discover the "Salon Royal", a hidden, discreet, and elegant place intended for foreign delegations of the era!
