Midnight Sun is a warm ode to the night. Inspired by the jazz classic by Stan Kenton, the band explores the many faces of the night in music. Songs from jazz, pop, rock, and gospel come together in a surprising set. Van Nina Simone to JJ Cale and The Eagles: well-known songs get new arrangements and fresh energy. With her powerful voice and a band full of experienced jazz musicians, Lady Linn provides a concert full of atmosphere and musical craftsmanship. The tour Midnight Sun is an ode to dark and light, the duality of life, and above all a hymn to the night. The repertoire consists of timeless jazz, rock, pop, house, gospel, and country songs with ‘the night’ as a common denominator, each one played and arranged with room for improvisation and dialogue. They all embody the endless possibilities of the night, from the boisterous, vibrant nightlife to budding loves to murder ballads and melancholy. Her grandfather gave Lady Linn the love for jazz from an early age. Later she studied jazz vocals at the conservatory and founded the Magnificent Seven. She immersed herself in swing jazz for years and thus learned an extensive jazz repertoire including Round Midnight, one of the first jazz standards she sang and which now also has a place on the new album. Midnight Sun she learned via pianist François Glorieux. They recorded it together, and the song never let her go after that. Jazz is not only a great love of Lady Linn but also her Magnificent Seven come home completely with this tour. The songs are approached with a new freshness and different angle every time, so no concert will be exactly the same.
