"For a long time I remained myself and then I moved, with great wings, toward metamorphoses."
A leading figure in new magic, a trainer of ghosts and enchanter of wolves, Étienne Saglio has this unique faculty to produce on stage images that mark, captivate, bewitch. After having transformed the large stage of the Aula Magna into a phantasmagorical forest with his Bruit des loups in 2022, he is back in Louvain-la-Neuve with his new show.
The magician explores this time our need to change, to reinvent ourselves, to accept our own multiplicity. From the outset, he plays with our perceptions by wearing a brightly colored mask with a beak and large ears. We then embark on an inner journey during which he struggles, splits, rises, freezes… then transforms. A new skin to escape a body that is too tight: he becomes a dog to move faster or a bird to overcome obstacles.
Through the dance of masks, shadows, and puppets, we plunge into a blurry world where scales are distorted and beings multiply. The spectator himself ends up losing his footing: who is the main character? Who is the one who wonders who he is? And in this trouble, the mirror tilts, awakening in each person his own momentum at the heart of our inner metamorphoses.
