Tiny Tunes: Iqnovara

Jazz under the Indian sun Are you familiar with Indian music? It sounds as though it wakes up with the sun. At first it’s gentle, with long, singing notes, and then it builds step by step into a dazzling sonic adventure. It can sound very cheerful, but also dreamy or a little mysterious. Belgian guitarist and resident artist Haroun Iqbal discovered these new sounds in India and brought them home with him. Together with his band, he adds jazz and improvisation to the mix. For this concert, we are joined by a special guest: a master of the sarod, a unique stringed instrument that can whisper, weep and sing all at once. Close your eyes and listen; perhaps you’ll see a train travelling through the desert or a night full of stars.
