The Tessenderlo disaster

Tessenderlo, April 29, 1942. Around 11:30 a.m., the Produit Chimique factory explodes in the heart of the village. The devastation after the explosion is enormous: 190 dead, more than 900 injured, and a completely destroyed village center. How could this have happened, what preceded it, and what was the aftermath of the disaster?
