Het Antwerp Symphony Orchestra loves to provide a stage for music from here. During this concert, we will hear work by the composer Wim Henderickx, who passed away in 2022 and was one of the warmest figures in recent classical music. As composer-in-residence, he had a special bond with the orchestra. How he is missed... but his legacy lives on. With pianist-composer Arthur De Greef, we go back in time. Zijn Cinq chants d’amour are enchanting, high-romantic songs based on texts by Charles Fuster. In one of them, you can hear how the Flemish carillon sounds very delicate in the percussion accompanying the soprano. De Greef was a true ‘Lisztianer’, or a proud student of Franz Liszt, whom he considered almost a god. He played, among other things, music by the Liège-born César Franck, who influenced an entire generation of French composers. And so, future chief conductor Marc Albrecht closes the season with brilliant works from both sides of the language border. With the support of Belgische Tax Shelter and BNP Paribas Fortis Film Finance Vriendenvoordeel De Vrienden of the orchestra are in the front row to get to know the new chief conductor, Marc Albrecht. On the eve of his inauguration, they are entitled to a free duo ticket for this concert. Log in to activate your Friends benefit.
