Pokey LaFarge is the best blues, rock'n'roll, ragtime and swing troubadour of the moment! The Illinois-born American gives a new twist to the music styles that his homeland produced in the decades around the Tweede Wereldoorlog. Rent Money, his new album expected for September 2026, is announced as his best collection of songs to date. Partly a chronicle of personal experiences, partly social commentary, the record forms a new step forward in LaFarge's oeuvre. Of course, the twangy guitars, honky-tonk rhythms and – as always – catchy melodies and a swinging atmosphere make Rent Money an immediately recognizable Pokey LaFarge record. This time, however, the shadow of restless times also hangs over the album. Above all, Pokey LaFarge chooses, as always, for authenticity and craftsmanship. Both on record and on stage, his music is unmistakably human work. Or as he says himself: “I’m just trying to make music that AI can’t replicate. Things are so homogenized right now. That’s what I’m really, really, really resistant to, especially when it comes to music. I’m not going to do it. I’m not going to conform.”
