Julien Tassin Trio Gitarist Julien Tassin is more driven than ever to seek exciting musical partners and broaden his spectrum of influences. The next on his long list of inspired collaborations is his new trio with the prolific saxophonist Erwin Vann and drummer Jean-Marc Butty, best known for his work with singer-songwriter PJ Harvey. The music of this trio evokes vivid images and lets the listener dream, observe, and contemplate. It wants to embody a form of collective storytelling, where ego and virtuosity give way to the shared experience. “The project is a way to express and fulfill my need to slow down in a world that is moving faster and faster, in which everything must be immediate and dazzling,” says Julien Tassin. “The music has a spiritual and healing dimension, which is present in both Erwin and Jean-Marc and resonates in my personal search.” The result is music that draws influences from folk, jazz, ambient, and contemporary classical music, while simultaneously developing unique, intimate characteristics. It is far from a traditional jazz project, which is also reflected in the influence of producer and artistic director John Parish, an English musician and producer who has worked with many alternative rock artists such as PJ Harvey and Eels. “John will strengthen the organic quality of the sound by using analog effects, tapes, and so on,” adds Julien. “He and Jean-Marc have an organic, minimalist, and raw approach to music, which I love.” The new trio Julien Tassin / Erwin Vann / Jean-Marc Butty will record their debut album in February 2026. The album will be mixed and mastered by John Parish and will be released in December 2026 by IGLOO Records. Adia Vanheerentals Voor her first solo album, called ‘ Here Are 5 Reasons To Meditate ’, saxophonist Adia Vanheerentals recorded five pieces that are simultaneously intimate, calm, wild, and melodic. The album was released as a single-sided LP by Dennis Tyfus’s label Ultra Eczema in 2024. In the same year, Adia was selected as one of De Twintigers van Klara, a platform for the most promising young musicians in Belgium. For her second ‘ Taking Place ’, Adia recorded inventive improvisations that not only use the full range of her instrument and various playing techniques but also the ambient sounds in the unusual locations where she recorded the music - the echo of a silo, the clucking of a chicken coop, or passing cars. Those sounds inspired the music, creating a dialogue with the environment.
