Weg naar het waterzuiveringsstation, Motbroekstraat 51, Sint-Joris-Winge (Tielt-Winge)
Free
All attention to the Walenbos, the largest nature forest in Flanders (500 ha in size).
To protect such "wealth", a Kleinschalig Alternatief Waterzuiveringsstation was built. Especially bacteria and duckweed purify the wastewater of Motbroek and Roeselberg there before they reach the Walenbos.
Then we cross the "swamps" of the Walenbos in search of three bomb craters from the Tweede Wereldoorlog.
On the way back, a serious climb awaits us to the top of the Alsberg, an iron sandstone hill typical of our Hageland.
Boots or sturdy shoes are a must on this walk.
