The ensemble Postscript and soprano
Elisabeth Hetherington explore together
the voice of the rejected woman through the
centuries. Inspired by Anne Sextons's
famous poem Her Kind they bring music
by Handel, Purcell, Strozzi, Saariaho and Fadael,
interwoven with electro-acoustic intermezzos
by Tatiana Rosa. Baroque portraits of Alcina,
Armide and Medea mirror modern insights
into madness, psychological fractures and
femininity. Hetherington and Postscript
thus create a penetrating, dramatic journey
through centuries of female experiences.
With music by Georg Friedrich Händel
(1685 – 1759), Henry Purcell (1659 – 1695),
Barbara Strozzi (1619 – 1677), Kaija Saariaho
(1952 – 2023) and Karmit Fadael (°1996)
