Fiction and reality, sometimes in a stranglehold, sometimes like a hug
In KAMP, propaganda is used to present the exclusion of a population group as the logic itself. With a smile, in prime time. At the same time, we see how those citizens in turn make up stories and thus succeed in creating their own livable reality. No matter how small.
The performance paints a picture of a society that could emerge tomorrow. Regimes have been launching fake news and conspiracy theories as a pretext for war for centuries. Alleged minorities have been isolated in reserves, in ‘holiday camps’ or ‘improvement programs’ for just as long. Both in the past and now.
With a sharp text full of black humor, KAMP swings back and forth over the sometimes thin line between propaganda and deception, between objective truth and online reviews, between acting and surviving.
Fiction and reality, sometimes in a stranglehold, sometimes like a hug. A performance about the danger of lies and the beauty of inventing. All this brought by a top team of five: Tania Van der Sanden, Tine Embrechts, Zouzou Ben Chikha, Jeroen Van der Ven, Robbert Vervloet and Astrid Cox.
From 'wir haben es nicht gewusst' to today: 'Kamp' forces you to think and is burning topical with strong acting performances. The performance gets under your skin. VRT Nieuws
