Thalas

Within the folk circuit, Guus Herremans (diatonic accordion) and Ward Dhoore (acoustic guitar) no longer need an introduction. Over the past ten years, these young wolves have made an impression with award-winning bands and diverse projects. You could previously see them at work with, among others, Aelia, Airboxes, Estbel, Les Bottines Artistiques, Nufolk Global Connections, Phlox, Siger, Snaarmaarwaar, Spilar, and Trio Dhoore. Both were selected by Radio Klara for ‘De Twintigers’, a program that puts promising twenty-somethings in the spotlight. From a long-standing friendship and a strongly developed musical chemistry, Guus and Ward are now joining forces in Thalas, a project in which their shared passion for contemporary folk is central. At the end of 2025, Thalas released its debut album, which was particularly well received by both press and public. The record earned them, among other things, a nomination for the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik and awarded them the prize for Best Album at the Flanders Folk Awards 2026.
