'Les Baronnes', the new film by Nabil Ben Yadir, which he directed together with his mother Moktharia Badaoui, is a comedy full of poetry, tenderness, energy, and humor. Women who have spent their whole lives taking care of their loved ones and who decide to take matters into their own hands and stand up for themselves are in the spotlight in this film. In a poetic and humorous tone, 'Les Baronnes' tells the story of four grandmothers from Molenbeek who discover the theater and with that turn the lives of their family... their neighborhood... and even the whole country upside down. Mokhtaria Badaoui and Nabil Ben Yadir place the women of Molenbeek in the spotlight. Ben Yadir wrote the film together with Stéphane Malandrin and co-directs with his mother, Mokhtaria Badaoui, who whispered the original idea to him. In the cast, we see, among others, new female faces from Brussels who are appearing on screen for the first time, together with well-known names Saadia Bentaieb, Jan Decleir, and Chris Lomme. For the dance and musical scenes, the directing duo could also count on the extensive experience and the sharp eye of the contemporary choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Direction: Mokhtaria Badaoui & Nabil Ben Yadir Met: Saadia Bentaieb, Rachida Bouganhem, Halima Amrani, Jan Decleir, …
