Arno Hartmann, born in Duisburg, studied organ, orchestral conducting and church music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Concert invitations brought him to organ festivals throughout Europe, Iceland, the US, South Africa, Russia, Australia, Argentina and Uruguay. As an organ soloist, he performed with, among others, the Orchestra da Camera di Firenze and the Moskou Kamerorkest in the Tsjaikovski Concertzaal of the Moskouse Philharmonie. He gave various masterclasses at Emory University in Atlanta and the Gnessin Academie for Music in Moscow, where he was also a jury member for the first Leonid Rojsman Orgelcompetitie. Several CD recordings, including those with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Concilium Musicum Wien and the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, document his musical work. After having been active for many years in Vienna, where he was responsible for numerous concert broadcasts for the Oostenrijkse Omroep (ORF) and was organist of the Wiener Symphoniker, Arno Hartmann worked as director of church music in Bochum. He is artistic director of the Orgelfestival van Bochum and the Orgelpunten van Bochum.
