Film: Holy Rosita

Holy Rosita tells the story of Rosita, a young woman with a mild intellectual disability and a strong desire to have children. Despite her enthusiasm and love for life, those around her do not believe she is suitable to become a mother. When she becomes pregnant, she decides to keep her pregnancy a secret for fear that they will take her child away. The film shows how social workers, family, and neighbors question her choices and autonomy. Regisseur Wannes Destoop sketches a moving and poetic portrait of a woman who fights for her right to love and motherhood, despite her vulnerable position in society.
