In this creative session, you will make the 'Femke', a timeless and sturdy wallet that you will enjoy for years. ✨ What will you do during this workshop? We leave the sewing machine for what it is and return to the basics of the old craft. You will make your wallet entirely yourself from start to finish. You start by choosing your favorite leather from a large stock of quality leather. Will you go for classic brown, a tough piece of nubuck, or a strikingly colorful 'special'? The choice is yours. After you have chosen your favorite leather, you will learn how to cut and prepare the leather correctly. For the holes, we use a hammer and a stitching chisel. The real work begins with the assembly: by hand and with sturdy waxed thread, you will learn the saddle stitch. This creates an indestructible connection that is much stronger than machine stitching. You will learn about: Recognizing and choosing different types of quality leather Basic techniques of leatherworking such as cutting and punching Mastering the authentic saddle stitch Finishing for a professional result At the end of the day, you will have a unique wallet of approximately 11 by 9 centimeters with three compartments. There is room for your cards, paper money, coins, and those loose receipts. The two flaps with snap buttons ensure that everything stays safely stored. 🔨🎨 Practical information: ⏱ Duration: 4 to 5 hours (we take our time) 📍 Location: Essen (near Antwerp and the border with the Netherlands) 👥 Number of participants: Maximum 6 for personal guidance 🚂 Accessibility: 10-minute walk from Essen station.
