On the foundations of the mining past and the old zoo of Zwartberg (Genk), a project is evolving that takes us into the unique vision of artist Koen Vanmechelen and his life's work in the fields of identity, fertility & biocultural diversity. A garden of order and chaos, an arena of culture and nature. Vanmechelen’s wonderlab.
A guide will take us through the 24ha park via an open-air exhibition with numerous (living) artworks and installations that make universal social topics such as diversity and human rights tangible and open for discussion thanks to the language of art.
LABIOMISTA is a permanent and evolving work of art that invites, challenges, and inspires us. It is a breeding ground for numerous new ideas, creations, projects, and collaborations. And it forms a meeting place for all species on this world.
LABIOMISTA also creates new life. It inspires and immediately fertilizes the environment with energy and initiative in numerous cultural, social & economic domains. This creates a profound and unique cross-pollination between artist and city, person and society.
