What started in 1987 as a 1-day festival in the then still gray, chilly, quiet Tienen has today grown into one of the most important festivals in the country. Today, Suikerrock, together with the Tiense Suikerraffinaderij, is the figurehead of the sugar city. Suikerrock grew into the most important multi-day festival on an active industrial site: a warm experience on the beet square in the shadow of the impressive Tiense Suikerraffinaderij. Suikerrock has 3 stages. The Main Stage with the larger Belgian and International artists. The Cube is an outdoor stage (named after the sugar cube) with a mix of Belgian and International artists, also with room for emerging talent. The Palace is an indoor stage in a typical and cozy mirror tent for the more intimate acts, Belgian and International, but also here room for emerging talent.
