It was founded in the 15th century by the Carthusians, a monastic order known for its silence and seclusion. A few years ago, KU Leuven had the historic complex thoroughly restored. In doing so, the old monastery walls and contemporary architecture were successfully interwoven. Today, KartHuis brings together organizations that provide care to vulnerable children and their families.
