In ‘Surplace’, Mieke Laureys (Johnny MUS) and Danny Ronaldo (Circus Ronaldo) take stock together. Two players who have known and appreciated each other for years, share their love for the small stories behind the human. Their meeting on stage is a duet of tenderness, humor, and recognition. Live music of accordion and flute weaves through their playing, comfortingly lifts the memories, or perhaps just lights the fire again. ‘Surplace’ is not a performance about being old, but about the road to it. About balancing between yesterday and tomorrow, between melancholy and gusto, between dreams and reality. About the illusion that you can plan life and mold it to your will and the realization that aging cannot be directed anyway.
